Due to recent events around the world, USD 495 is taking steps to better ensure your child’s safety while at school. Beginning this school year, the only entry point into LHS during the school day will be through the main entrance along Corse Street. To gain access to the building, all visitors must enter the Sally Port, and push the button on the silver box on the South wall. This will ring a bell in the office notifying office personnel that we have a visitor. Through an intercom system, you will be able to communicate your business at the school. If you are picking up a student, you will be asked to stay in the Sally Port while we get your student. If you have an appointment, you will be buzzed into the building. If you are wanting to visit without an appointment, arrangements will be made with the appropriate personnel before entrance into the building is granted.
As with any new procedure, there will be bugs that have to be worked out. Please plan accordingly; it may take more time to meet your needs as we get use to this new system.
