Saturday, April 2nd marked the official Ground Breaking Ceremony at the site for the new Larned Elementary School. Superintendent Jon Flint began with words of thanks to the school board, the Ft. Larned Foundation, the community, and all others who have supported this endeavor over the past year. He reminded those in attendance that work will not only begin on the new building, but we will also start seeing renovations taking place at the Larned High School. Then, with golden shovels in hand, the Ft. Larned School Board members turned the first sod on the site of our new elementary school. Foundation members, elementary teachers, students and community members were also invited to turn some dirt on the site.
The Shopko Foundation has developed the "Help Us Give Back" program to provide critical support to schools across the country, while raising awareness to the budgetary challenges many districts face.
The Shopko Hometown Foundation will donate $1, up to $2,000, to the school district for every customer that simply signs their name to show their support; no donation or purchase required.
If you have further questions, please contact Shopko for additional details.
School is canceled on Monday November 30th due weather and road conditions.
