Part-time position - 20 hours per week
-Hours will mostly be scheduled to cover morning hours from approximately 8:00AM - 12:00PM.
-Some flexibility will be required to accommodate coverage when the School Nurse is involved with activities such as screenings or otherwise needs to be absent. These days may require the Assistant to work one or two 8 hour days during the week, rearranging the remaining hours so that the Assistant works no more than 20 hours per week.
Licensing Requirements - The School Nurse Assistant should hold at least LPN licensure.
-The School Nurse Assistant will be mainly stationed at the Middle School health office and floating to the High School health office as needed. The Assistant’s duties will include assessment of illnesses and injuries involving students and staff, and the administration of medications and procedures. The Assistant may also be required to assist with such duties in the other district buildings as needed.
-The School Nurse Assistant will assist the School Nurse with data input into the student information system/files regarding screening results and immunization records.
-The School Nurse Assistant will assist the School Nurse with annual Blood-Borne Pathogen review requirements for staff and subsequent Exposure Control issues (i.e. facilitating high risk staff with obtaining appropriate immunizations).
-The School Nurse Assistant should be comfortable utilizing computers and the internet. Health Office documentation is recorded in the School District’s student information system. Communication with staff frequently takes place via e-mail.
-The School Nurse Assistant should enjoy working with children of all ages.
