As we enter the 2009-2010 school year, the district continues the era which focuses on each child's growth and achievement level. With
MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time. Detailed, accurate information about your child's growth is received. All tests are administered on the computer.
Students in grades 2-10 take the
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test, which includes Reading, Mathematics and Language Usage. The test is an adaptive test, which means that as students answer questions, the difficulty level of the next item is adjusted either up or down. As questions are answered correctly the level of difficulty increases. This could be a different experience for students who possess many skills and typically feel that they have answered all test questions correctly. By the time they get to the end of the MAP test, they may feel that the questions are very difficult and that they do not know answers. The test results provide instructional levels of the students. Teachers use the students results to make decisions regarding instructional planning for each student. This test is not a test for determining the mastery of skills.
Most importantly, parents, students and teachers will be able to see a child's growth over the years.
KANSAS ASSESSMENTS
The students in the district also take the Kansas State Assessment Tests. Please use the link below to find out more information on these tests.
